In this play, you can take advantage of a conventional cover 2 by stretching the FS over the top and stretching the MLB and WLB. If the defense is in a conventional cover 2, the weak-side CB will bite on the out by the RB. The FS will work to receiver X’s outside release and the MLB will have to honor the streak pattern over the middle by receiver Y. By covering X, the FS has now vacated his half of the zone and opens up an alley for receiver Y.
On a blitz, receiver Z and Y on the weak side are the hot receivers.
