DIAGRAM: “82 Switch (Storm Formation).” This play has been a mainstay of our offensive package and the routes are some of the first that our players learn. The design is to put at least three receivers in the field of vision for the QB. For the route to be effective, the 4-back has to cut off the Y-receiver. The 3-back needs to be at least 5-yards deep or behind the LBs trailing the 4-back. This has also proven to be a good option play for our QB. The QB must release the ball within 3 seconds of the snap.

X runs a slant pattern, while Y runs a fade pattern. The 2-back blocks the backside, the 3-back runs an in-pattern at 10 yards and the 4-back runs an out-pattern (he is the hot receiver on this play).
The QB (1-back) reverses out, fakes a handoff with the 2-back, gets to the corner and looks to pass to the 4-back (A), receiver Y (B), the 3-back (C) or the X-receiver.
