DIAGRAM 1: This is a boot leg off the ISO trap run. Usually the tight end can get open for a nice gain and sometimes you can get a deep route open if they run a good route.
PLAYER ASSIGNMENTS:
Play-Side OG, OT: Double the defensive tackle with the guard working up to the LB.
Center: Cuts the nose guard and protects the A-gaps.
Backside OG: Pulls and thinks kick out on the DE (this is a good influence on the LBs).
Backside OT: Steps to the play-side gap and keeps the DT from crashing down on the play. Don’t get downfield!
TE: Makes it look as if he’s cutting off the DE and slips inside the DE to the flat. This takes practice and he must work on his timing as to when he should release his block.
FB: Hits the hole and attacks the LB.
SE: Runs a post corner route.
Flanker: Runs a drag route across the field.
QB: Gives a good fake to the TB and then has to be ready to deliver the ball.
TB: Gets a good run fake. Sells the play.
