DIAGRAM 1: Right Doubles, Zap, 22 Option. This play is a shot gun version of the triple option. The Z wide receiver goes into motion and becomes the pitch man. The TB takes three steps toward the play-side hole and follows the pulling backside OT.
The QB reads the backside DE: If the DE slants toward the TB (A), the QB pulls the ball from the TB, rolls out and carries out the option with the Z receiver. If the DE runs upfield (B), the QB makes the handoff to the TB and fakes running the option with the Z receiver.

DIAGRAM 2: Right Doubles, Zap, 13 QB Counter. This play works well against an overpursuing defense and looks similar to the 22 Option, except you counter with the QB.
The QB fakes a 22 handoff to the TB and follows the backside OT who’s pulling to the A-gap. The Z receiver goes into zap motion and carries out the option fake.
