This is a great fake for a 2-point conversion when the defense is bringing everyone in an effort to block the extra point in a close-game situation. It can also be used as a good fake field goal to get a first down.
Get your kicking team on the field and set up quickly. Run a quick snap and have the kicker appear to go through with the kick, but make sure he’s far enough away from the holder to avoid interfering with the play.
On the snap, the right OG pulls to the left and heads toward the edge defender on the left side, while the right wing back follows behind him. The holder catches the snap, pauses, then throws a forward shovel pass to the right wing back as he crosses the formation.
The right wing back catches the shovel pass, follows the block around the formation and heads toward the pylon on the left corner of the end zone (or the first-down marker). This play has worked really well for us. I have film on it and if any coach wants to see it, they can contact me at our school by phone: (616) 764-0230.
