DIAGRAM: This play attempts to high-low the safety.

X: Starts at the top of the numbers. Runs a post route, staying outside the play-side hash.

Z: Z starts at the bottom of the numbers on the opposite side of the field from X. Z pushes the route for 8 yards, slants for 3, then rolls to the corner.

Y: Runs a drag under the linebackers and crosses in front of the LBs’ faces. Y needs to be ready for the ball early if the inside LBs blitz.

A: Runs a middle-dig route. When A breaks on his dig route, if someone is guarding him tightly, A runs away from the defender. If A breaks and someone crosses his face or is sinking, then A finds an open area and sits.

The QB reads the play-side safety. If that safety squats or does not peddle directly out, the QB throws to X running the post route. If the safety bails out on the snap, the QB works the high-low combination.
