THE DOUBLE-WING MOTION series, better known to us as the, “Scissors Series” comes out of the Wing-T philosophy. The differences are that the motion is flat and fast (as opposed to waggle-type motion) and the formation is symmetrical, giving no strength clues to your opponent.
The reason we love these plays on the goal line is that three of the four plays stretch the perimeter and the passing plays flood all zones, which include difficult crossing patterns. Most goal-line defenses are set to stop action between the tackles so we give the bait (fullback fake) to collapse the front, then pop wide very quickly. Attacking the field to the wide side is especially helpful in stretching the defenses flank.
The series has enough variety and “look-alikes” that the fakes will thin the front, as several tacklers will commit to them.
This cuts down on the number of rushes. For more information on this series, go to www.doublewing.org.
