DIAGRAM: Belly Pass-Run. The linemen block (drive) like during a running play. The QB gives a good fake to the fullback, hides the ball on his hip and sprints out. The halfback comes through the tackle-end gap as a blocker if the safety comes up as expected. The HB blocks for a one-count and runs a pass route if the safety drops. His goal is to beat him to the flag. The right end blocks for a two-count, then runs to the flat. The tailback blocks the outside man on the line of scrimmage. The FB hits the B-gap to block and act as a decoy. The QB passes to the open man (flat or flag) or tucks the ball and runs (this must be a quick decision). A run can be called prior to the play. If so, the HB and TE stay with their blocks and the TB blocks the corner. The TE and TB can swap blocking assignments to show pass.
