DIAGRAM: This has been a very successful play for our team over the years. We’ve built in several options to this play, which may be run out of a 1-back set. The play is always run to the TE side and it’s an extremely effective play to use in short-yardage situations due to the maximum blocking at the point of attack.

Receiver-X releases inside and blocks the middle third of the field, receiver-Y blocks the first defender to the inside and receiver-Z releases downfield and stalk-blocks the CB.

The TB shows pitch and runs the option-pitch route. While faking the pitch, the TB must be a good actor — he must draw the attention of the LBs.

The QB reverse-pivots, hands off deep to the FB and continues to run to the play-side corner.

The FB takes an aiming point at the outside hip of the play-side OT, receives a handoff and runs upfield off the combo block of the play-side OT and TE.

Against a 50 defense, the play-side OT and TE combo-block. They must be aware of the LB’s tendency to scrape outside because he thinks the play is an option.
