IN OUR PROGRAM, we have a defensive philosophy that utilizes multiple defenses. The “Double Tex” gives a
different look out of our stack defense.

Getting A Good Jump
What makes the Double Tex call effective is that your players can begin to make their moves before the snap and get a great jump. Your inside guys can really stem and prowl, disguising the defense and confusing the offense with what you’re trying to do.

The critical element for success with this defense is the play of the nose guard and the defensive tackle. These players must engage the offensive guards and put the bind on the center.

The defensive ends come right off the hip of the interior linemen. If the NG and DT do their job, both A-gaps should come open, freeing the DEs.

The strong and weak-side linebackers have outside containment responsibilities, which keeps the offense honest on boot legs and sprint outs. This will also help stuff any outside runs.

With pressure coming up the middle through both A-gaps, and outside pressure coming from both outside LBs, you should have someone running free to disrupt the offense.
