This is a great play for third-and-long yardage situations. The center and right OG combo block up to the outside LB. The left OG and right OT fan block (block out). The left OT folds and is responsible for the Mike LB. To help keep things simple for your offensive line, the left OT should always fold, no matter the front you're facing. The TB takes a 6-inch step to the right, squats while facing at 2 or 3 o'clock and makes a handoff arm pocket on his backside hip. The QB drops back with the ball held in passing position. As he passes the TB on his drop, he slips the ball into the TB's backside-hip arm pocket, then rolls out, faking as if he still has the ball and is looking to pass. Once the ball is secured by the squatting TB, he runs the draw. You'll find that the unblocked DE charges upfield every time! —Alex Richters, Offensive Coordinator, Royal High School, Brookshire, Texas |
