The package utilizes 4 wideouts and is run from the shotgun. This play can be worked against either side of the field, depending on which side has the weaker coverage personnel. The diagram shows the drop-back package vs. the right side.
The quarterback will read the coverage and determine whether the defense is in cover 2, cover 3 or man coverage.
The back stays home and acts as a another pass protector.
All receiver routes will be run depending on what the defense is showing. Against this coverage, the two inside receivers run 5-yard stop routes, while the outside receivers run down-and-out patterns. QB should read the corner and can throw to either receiver.
